‘You yourself as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection’
Buddha
With adoption comes the need to redefine relationships for all concerned; the adoptive child, other children, the new parents, friends and grandparents.
Traditionally in the UK it is not usual to mark the event. However Rainbow Heart Services can create an adoption ceremony that provides the opportunity to welcome the new family member and celebrate the significance of this life changing experience for all concerned. .
The adoptive parents have the opportunity to have their new role more widely recognised amongst friends and family and to more publicly declare their love and support for the growth and welfare of their child. Furthermore a ceremony allows the new parents to express their gratitude for their new child and the heritage that the child brings.
For friends and relatives a ceremony is an opportunity to formally declare their commitment, love and support for this new family configuration, both now and in the future.
On the occasion of adoption of an older child, a ceremony can be an opportunity to honour their roots, whilst expressing their hopes as they embark on a new phase of their lives with the love and support of their new family.
